News — World Alzheimer’s Day 2024
World Alzheimer’s Month takes place every September and World Alzheimer’s Day is on 21 September each year. It’s a global opportunity to raise dementia awareness and support people affected by the disease.
Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer, it’s the largest health and social care issue of our time, yet it isn’t the priority it needs to be. The impact of this is enormous – on the lives of those it affects, on the healthcare system and on the economy.
At Alzheimer’s Society, they see the devastation of dementia. They know there are millions of dementia stories happening across the UK, but they aren’t being heard.
This is the UK’s forgotten crisis. Which is why this World Alzheimer’s Month, the charity is taking stories from people affected by dementia, and bringing them out from behind closed doors. Making them public, making them loud, and creating an unignorable case for action.
