The Knife Angel – 30 days in Maidstone

News — The Knife Angel – 30 days in Maidstone

The Knife Angel, a National Youth Anti-Violence Educational Programme and Tour is coming to Maidstone, it was unveiled on Tuesday 6th September and will stand tall until the leaving procession on Sunday 2nd October.

During the Knife Angel’s visit to Maidstone, it will be located on the forecourt of the Lighthouse Church, formerly known as St Faiths Church, situated on Station Road, Maidstone.

British Ironwork Centre made the sculpture, from over 100,000 seized blades, was specifically created to highlight the negative effects of violent behaviour whilst solidifying our critical need for social change. Not only does the Angel act as a catalyst for turning the tide on violent and aggressive behaviour, but it is also acts as a beautiful memorial designed to celebrate those lives who have been lost through these violent and thoughtless actions.

The team at OneMaidstone BID are the first Business Improvement District organisation to host the Knife Angel. The OneMaidstone team have worked closely with key partners to bring The Knife Angel to Maidstone in September 2022, with the shared objective in mind – to bring about social change.

The Knife Angel, also known as the National Monument Against Violence & Aggression, was always intended to educate children, young people, and adults about the harmful effects that violent behaviour has on communities across our nation. This visit intends to create a high number of Youth Champions.
