Fremlin Walk supports the UK’s accessible shopping day, Purple Tuesday
Over 50% of UK households have a connection to someone with a disability, for almost one in every five people in the UK has a disability or impairment. The consumer spending power of disabled people and their families in the UK is worth £249 billion, yet fewer than 10% of businesses have plans to access this disability market.
Purple Tuesday, an international call to action, is all about changing and improving the customer experience for disabled people. On Tuesday 12th November 2019, Fremlin Walk joins other UK businesses and organisations in supporting Purple Tuesday to ensure sustainable changes are made.
Fremlin Walk’s Centre Manager, Lloyd Wright, said “Inclusive shopping is something we are very passionate about at Fremlin Walk, so we are pleased to be supporting Purple Tuesday this year. We want to help our customers to understand that not every disability is visible, and we also want to help our disabled customers to feel safe at the Centre. For this reason, we have a quiet room situated within our Centre Management office which is available for staff and customers. We also have wheelchairs available to hire and accessible disabled toilets.”
