Events — Mental Health Awareness Week

This year’s Mental Health Awareness Week theme is stress.

Stress is one of the big drivers behind the rise of mental ill health and as a result, we cannot afford to underestimate stress or the changes for a less toxic approach to living. By tackling stress, we can go a long way to tackle mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.

In support, between 14th – 20th May we are working in partnership with Maidstone and Mid-Kent Mind to deliver ‘Coping with Stress’ workshops,  yoga and pilates taster sessions and treatments to encourage you to take a little me time.

You’ll find Maidstone and Mid-Kent Mind between H&M and River Island on Friday 18th May and they’ll be offering:

– Advice and Guidance on where Mental Health Support is available within the area
– Controlled Breathing, ‘Stress Bucket’ and other exercises designed to help relieve stress
– More insight into the causes and consequences of stress.
– Hands-on activities to help you better understand the impact of stress.
– Coping with Stress workshops – at 12pm and 1pm

The ‘Coping with Stress’ workshops, running at 12pm & 1pm  on Friday 18th May, are extremely valuable and usually cost £75 per person but are free to Fremlin Walk shoppers that wish to attend on the day. On Sunday 20th May, enjoy free yoga taster sessions from local company Chudography, each session will last around 15-20 minutes and participants can take part in regular clothes or gym attire.

Also on Sunday 20th May, The Harmony Therapy Trust therapists will be offering hand massages and Reiki to help relieve stress and aid relaxation as well as talking to people about supportive therapies. The Harmony Trust support people with treatments that are absolutely free to their beneficiaries that are living with life altering illnesses. All activity is free to shoppers and will be taking place between 11-3pm on Sunday 20th May.
