Fashion — Power Couple Blog
With couples like the Beckhams, Kate and Wills & Kim & Kanye West paving the way, the power couples are stronger than ever and so is their style. We may not have the same clothing budgets as some of our favourite celebs but it doesn’t mean you and your partner should compromise your look, whether it’s date night, dinner or a dog walk.
If you’re taking some inspiration from our gorgeous models then dressing to impress is a must. However, this doesn’t need to be hard work; in fact you want to make it look as effortless as possible. Gents, don’t reach straight for your trusty suit, why not mix it up? Ditch the uptight, structured look and don relaxed tailoring, lose the jacket and just rock the waistcoat for a laid back cool. Alternatively, go matchy-matchy with a Topman blazer and trouser combo, throw in a simple tee or polo neck and a trade your lace ups for a comfy & stylish pair of loafers. Reworking the conventional pieces to keep it uncomplicated gives off relaxed vibes but still shows who wears the trousers in this power couple.
Talking of wearing the trousers, ladies, it’s time to up your fashion game and show them you mean business… Steal the show in this season’s ultimate glam, a block colour jumpsuit. Once reserved for the 70s and believed to be hard to accessorise, the jumpsuit has hit back with a vengeance allowing you to choose between classic or evening styles that can shape your silhouette and take the stress out of working out which top matches your new skirt or trousers. Zara have a huge selection of styles & shapes to suit all body types. I am a huge fan of kicking out in a wide leg show stopper accessorised with a statement necklace. Lift the look with a killer pair of lace up heels to elongate your legs and really give you the wow factor. Choose wisely to accentuate your best assets and hide any lumps and bumps – as the jumpsuit automatically brings elegance, don’t be scared to take a little risk and select a low cut or backless number to mix in the edge.
And finally, with so many gorgeous coats hitting the shelves for autumn/winter, now is definitely the time to find your chief coat to cosy up in. Bigger really is better this season, with oversized coats being key in taking the power couple title. Guys, when choosing your outwear this autumn step away from tailored and towards something looser with wide shoulders, playing both the smart and casual side of the field. Ladies, there’s tons of option for you but focus your attention on length. I absolutely love the sleeveless waistcoats & the return of longline blazers as a lighter option during this unsure transitional period. A handy tip: Stick to coats that are designed to be oversized rather than something a few sizes too big. An oversized coat should look like a deliberate fashion choice, not something you found in your Dad’s closet and threw on.
